The Love of Don Robaina

THE LOVE OF DON ROBAINA -- SCENES FROM A CUBAN TOBACCO PLANTATION
Denmark - U.S. Premiere

50 mins. Arclight Cinemas, 3:00 pm, Oct. 18, Saturday.
The Love of Don Robaina is a powerful, human portrait of the eighty-three-year-old tobacco legend and his life on his tobacco plantation in Cuba. Don Robaina is now facing retirement and will have to pass on his life's work to the next generation. The film follows the process of tobacco -- as a metaphor for life itself -- but more than being a film about tobacco, it is a fascinating, profoundly moving film about handing over to a new generation, close family ties, aging with dignity, and following onešs chosen path with passion and devotion.

Director/Writer/Producer: Helle Windelov

These are testimonies from relatives of those who have been murdered, victims of blackmail, harassed citizens, people who managed to survive a terrorist attack, and people who live exiled for fear of being murdered. These are men and women marked by the violence of an intolerant sector in a country where it is not possible today to speak or live in freedom.

Director/Writer/Producer: Inaki Arteta
