Michelson to get Sylbert kudos Nod honors achievement in prod'n design
HOLLYWOOD -- Veteran production designer Harold Michelson has been tapped to receive the Hollywood Film Festival's Richard Sylbert Outstanding Achievement in Production Design Award.
Nod, to be awarded at the festival's Oct. 7 awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton, has been renamed to honor Sylbert, the Oscar-winning production designer who died in March. Previous recipients of the honor include production designers Robert Boyle and Henry Bumstead.
Michelson was selected in 1999 by the Art Directors Guild for its lifetime achievement award. He was nominated for an art direction Oscar for "Star Trek: The Motion Picture."
Other credits include "Dick Tracy," "Terms of Endearment," "Spaceballs," "Planes, Trains & Automobiles," "Mommie Dearest," "Catch 22," "History of the World, Part I," "Johnny Got His Gun," "The Outside Man" and "Hair."
