Tribute to Orson Welles
Mr. Arkadin (1955)

Guy Van Stratten, handsome young playboy, had a strange assignment. Gregory Arkadin, international financier, was paying him to uncover his hidden past. The trail began on the docks in Naples and led Van Stratten from a vice den in Warsaw to a castle in Spain. He uncovered a sordid path of women, high finance, and corruption, but always a piece of the mysterious puzzle was missing. And as he traveled around the world, meeting strange underworld characters, Van Stratten began to understand Arkadin's motives in hiring him. For as each step brought him closer to the solution of the mystery, he became more convinced that he was hired to be his own executioner. . . .

Mr. Arkadin is one of Orson Welles' independent films, largely financed by him and producer Louis Dolivet. The film ended up being edited into several different versions, and with the alternate title of Confidential Report. Orson loved the plot of the film, which he wrote, directed, and acted in. It's sort of a Citizen Kane type investigation into a powerful man's past.

There are not many of these prints. They are hard to come by. It's a film rarely shown.
