Tribute to Orson Welles
Filming Othello (1977)

Filming Othello is a ninety minute documentary that Orson Welles planned as the first in a series of programs about each one of the films that he directed.

We also began filming a Q&A session about The Trial at night at a USC film class. This was to be the second documentary, following Filming Othello. It was not to be completed.

Filming Othello was made for Janus Films of Germany for Klaus and Jurgen Hellwig, producers. It was shown as a companion piece to Orson's Othello.

We started the film in Paris and finished it in Beverly Hills. This is a film in which you can see Orson at home, relaxed, as he really was, telling his stories. As far as seeing Orson Welles goes, it is close to F for Fake.
