Hollywood Fest fetes director, composer
Frankenheimer & Zimmer to receive
achievement kudos

The fifth annual Hollywood Film Festival has selected John Frankenheimer to receive the fest's award for achievement in directing, while Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer will be honored for achievement in film.

Kudos will be bestowed upon the honorees at an Aug. 6 ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Fest runs Aug. 2-6.

"Throughout their careers, Mr. Frankenheimer and Mr. Zimmer have demonstrated extraordinary ability," said Carlos de Abreu, founder and executive director of the festival. "They are excellent examples of highly talented professionals whose work and creative vision is to be applauded and honored."

Frankenheimer has directed feature films including "Reindeer Games," "Ronin," "Year of the Gun," "Black Sunday," "French Connection II," "The Iceman Cometh," "The Fixer," and "The Manchurian Candidate," as well as the Emmy Award-winning television dramas "George Wallace," "Andersonville," and "The Burning Season."

Zimmer won the Academy Award for original score for "The Lion King" and received noms for "Gladiator," "The Thin Red Line," "The Prince of Egypt," "As Good As It Gets," "The Preacher's Wife," and "Rain Man." He also scored "Pearl Harbor," "Hannibal," "Mission Impossible 2," and "The Road to El Dorado."
